Sen. Klobuchar...High Profile in Denver

She's been all over Denver. Heavy demands on her time as she scampers from venue to venue. No...it's not Hillary Clinton. I'm talking about Sen. Amy Klobuchar. The National Journal Convention Daily did a fluffy story about Klobuchar's first speech.

The Journal article got cutesey at times:

But the freshman senator--a former prosecutor whose Minnesota-nice demeanor belies her toughness--stood her ground when they tried to cut the reference to her 1985 shower curtain. "I said no, it's true!" Klobuchar said. The two-decades-old shower curtain--one of the items she packed in her Saturn when she moved her family to Washington after the 2006 election--stayed in the script.

And she got some compliments:

They liked her energy and reminded her to move around a little as she speaks--not a problem for Klobuchar, because she always likes to move her hands when she talks.

But even more interesting were the listings in the Denver area Convention Schedule:

8:30 AM -- A hot ticket for a warming planet. Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, John Podesta of the Center for American Progress, and the Clinton Foundation's Ira Magaziner talk business and the environment at the Rocky Mountain Roundtable. ($55 ticket and sold out).

10AM --An all-star panel discussion on equality and the economy, including Sen Sherrod Brown, Ohio, Rep. Donna Edwards, Maryland, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Minnesota, NY Times columnist Paul Krugman, and AFL-CIO President John Sweeney.

2PM -- Remember what the Democrats were losing four years ago? Gov. Bill Richardson, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Rep. Carolyn Mahoney, and former Rep. Harold Ford are ready to fight back. They will be talking with MSNBC's Tucker Carlson, Daily KOS founder Markos Moulitsas, and former White House press secretary Dee Dee Myers at a panel discussion moderated by NBC News Chief legal correspondent Dan Abrams. Sponsored by the Common Good USA.

6PM -- Women of the Senate speak at Convention. Sen. Amy Klobuchar is included.

9PM -- Stars Chevy Chase and Debra Winger host; and Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Govs. Janet Napolitano, David Paterson, Bill Richardson, and Bill Ritter and dashing but scandalous Mayors Antonio Villaraigosa of Los Angeles, and Gavin Newsom of San Francisco appear at a post-gavel reception sponsored by civil-discourse non-profit Common Good and the Hispanic Institute.

Hmmmmmm....

That's pretty high visibility. Environment...economy...women's issues, and even rubbing elbows with prominent Latinos.

All coincidence? Or is our folksey Senator Klobuchar planning on a bigger future?

She seems to be making the most of her Colorado stay.
