Is Pawlenty Making Any Headway With the GOP Powers That Be?

For all the traveling and glad handing Pawlenty has been doing over the past few weeks to few months, you start to wonder if he is really getting the "message" out.

In California, a TV station did a story on Pawlenty. One of the quotes surprised me:

"In the State of Minnesota, he's (Pawlenty) a moderate to conservative Governor. He works with the conservatives, but has a lot of moderate tendencies within the state....every state is different. But now he has to create an image of himself nationally."
--Steven Frank (CA Political News and Views)

Moderate tendencies? This guy must be looking at Pawlenty in the last century. Does he have to get MORE conservative? Yikes.

Then there is this quote from the Washington Times about Obama and Pawlenty being in California at the same time....

"It's like comparing an Indy race car to chitty chitty bang bang," said Phil Musser, a political adviser to Mr. Pawlenty. "But we're having fun and doing it with a smile on our faces."

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? From his adviser? Yikes again.

And then, how about this comment from "Derrick".....

Watched 30 agonizing seconds(at hot air .com) of his (Pawlenty) speech to the wcap dinner last night. I thought Jindals response to Obamas speach was bad. This took the cake for boringest ever. Of all these GOP candidates only one gets the blood boiling either for or against; thats Palin. All the others just do not have that rage factor. Either your outraged at her or outraged at who she is attacking. Huck,Romney,T-Paw,Jindal, just dont have it at the stump. Palin, she just has this uncanny ability to incite either a riot or a mob scene of autograph seekers. No one else the GOPs got can do that and that says alot.

Triple yikes.....

And then there is John Augustine writing for Human Events.....

If not for the prodigious list of “green” environmentalist policies and nanny-state regulations he has continued to promote and sign into law, Pawlenty could have built up more bona fide conservative credentials by now.

Since 2006, he has signed off on and promoted strict “renewable” energy mandates, and signed laws creating a “Green Jobs Task Force” and a “Greenhouse Gas Advisory Group”. He pushed for and signed a statewide ban on smoking in bars, restaurants and most “public areas”. He expanded bureaucratic powers as a response to the threat of pandemics, authorized bonding to acquire more parkland and light-rail-routes, banned service fees and expiration dates on gift cards, instituted more mandates for the use of child booster seats, gave law enforcement the authority to pull over and issue a ticket for anyone not wearing a seatbelt, and made Minnesota the first state in the nation to cave in to the alarmists and ban the use of BPA plastic in products intended for small children. He did not oppose the successful effort last year to pass a referendum to raise Minnesota’s sales tax and dedicate the increase to “legacy” projects for the arts and environment.

Wow, tough to please. Guess we haven't seen the "mean" side of Pawlenty yet. Quadruple yikes.

You get the feeling that Pawlenty isn't making the head way in conservative circles that he would like?
