The Republican House has chosen Rep. Kurt Daudt as its minority leader going forward. Daudt was a member of the 2010 freshman class and was also Marty Seifert's campaign manager for governor.
The possibilities weren't exactly stellar.... potential House GOP leaders included Joe Hoppe (R-Chaska), Sarah Anderson (R-Plymouth), Steve Drazkowski (R-Mazeppa) and Kurt Daudt (R-Crown).
Drazkowski? Yikes.
But Daudt won out. He has been listed as an assistant majority leader but it seemed more of a token position to get representation for the 2010 freshman class.... a lot of them are gone already.
One thing about Daudt that worries me....this quote:
Last year, Daudt pushed a change to forbid welfare recipients from using their electronic benefit cards to buy tobacco or alcohol. This year, he's pushing proposals to restrict how long families can collect benefits and to forbid people from using their benefit cards in far-away states. Daudt also wants to change the income requirements, so someone earning $10.90 an hour would no longer qualify for assistance.
$10.90 an hour? Lazy "rich" moochers at $10.90 an hour?
If Mary Franson survives her 1 vote recount, they should get along just fine.
