Well, it looks official - the Republicans get to keep Mary Franson in the State House.
Reporters are breathing a sigh of relief....they have been losing the best quote makers lately....but I am sure that Franson will not disappoint, and will probably double down on the crazy to help.
Coming out of the recount with a 12 vote margin (padded by an election error in Douglas County), Franson has to only offend 7 more people to lose next time.
And like it or not, one of Franson's allies on the "war on welfare", Kurt Daudt, is now actually the minority leader, with more power to wage their fight. Franson and Daudt doubled down on the welfare "animals" last session....
The Forest Lake Times reported on their bills....
Rep. Kurt Daudt, R-Crown, wants to change the number of years a mother with dependent children could get benefits from five to three years in the Minnesota Family Investment Program.
Rep. Mary Franson, R-Alexandria, has a bill that would require drug testing for anyone applying for the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP).
And who are these "freeloaders" on MFIP?
According to Human Services Commissioner Lucinda Jesson, the majority of people in MFIP are working at very low-income jobs, have serious health problems, are new mothers or are recently unemployed.
I am sure we all feel much better that Rep. Mary Franson will be back for another 2 years to wage the battle.
It was a close call.
